I wasn't sure how this would be received.

Now that we've seen the transport system, it raises a few questions...
1. Is this the maximum size of the "gates", or is this a personnel "gate", or are there larger ones for bulk items?
2. Is the transport system open for all inhabitants, or Line members only? What is the cost per use (in real-world equivalencies)?
3. Are they linked to "Connection Main" (CM) only (meaning that you HAVE to go from A->Connection Main->B), or can you go directly to your destination (A->B)?
4. Is this the only gate on Earth, or are they in all Line facilities in order to permit instantaneous (domestic) travel?
5. Holy Crap - I never asked what the travel time is to CM! Is it instantaneous, or is there a measurable length of time (FWIW - anything under ~1 sec to me is instantaneous)?

BTW - how many Elites does Khor-Eth have under his control? Is this an average number, is he a minor or major player among the Mahjite? Your character page only lists the 4 pulled from Earth, but perhaps they are the only ones relevant to the story. Is Earth Khor-Eth's only planet, or does he "own" more?

Wowsers, those are great questions. :-D
I try to dole info like that out in the comic as it becomes necessary… but let me elaborate for you right now:

1. This is pretty much the size of most "connections".
In general they are designed for human transport with very little allowance for items.
There is also more traditional transport on the planets, generally in the form of pods.
This particular one belongs to The Line, but there are others.
There are very few connections where you'd be able to bring anything substantial through.

2. Connections only work with life forms that have a "pattern" of energy.
So Line members only… with allowances for bacteria and simple life forms naturally found in and around a person.
Pregnant Line members can not make connections.
There is no cost for this transport as most connections made are for Line activities.

3. Connection Main is one of the levels of control that is imposed upon Line members.
For interplanetary travel Connection Main is almost always the intermediary step.
The ONLY exception is a couple of connections directly between Zho-van and Rhye-van.
Those connections are very, very limited and have a somewhat controversial history.

4. This is not the only connection on Earth.
Like other planets, there are local connections to each of the Line facilities.
For example, there's a connection from that Line Obsession bar where Selena and Septh visited Corey, to the facility where they are now.
BUT this is the only "off planet" connection that Selena and Septh have access to… or know about.

5. This is pretty much instantaneous.

As you can imagine, all travel through connections are recorded and controlled.
If you don't have permission to make a connection, but are a Line member, it's physically possible to still make that connection.
You'll immediately raise alarms.
It's called a "breach" ANYTIME a Line member causes an alarm for ANY reason.
Breaches are severely punished.
Horribly, brutally punished if there's malicious intent. :-|
I'm introducing this concept in the upcoming pages.

Oh your BTW… Khor-eth has less than 25 elite.
All in all, the elite total under 500. The majority of them are from the planet Dyerin itself.
(common foot soldiers are numerous and from every planet the Dyerin "own")
There are actually 7 Mahjite, not 6, but the 7th Mahjite is a mystery right now.
While all of the Mahjite have important responsibilities, the major players are Swahn (blue) and Cothamis (green), then Phaalan (purplish). Khor-eth would be called "up and coming"… all eyes are on him right now. :-}
Khor-eth's only planet is Earth… and it hasn't been "taken over" yet.

XD
Thanks for the interest Sig.

If Sig ever gives me the third degree like that... man, I have no idea what I'd do. Probably break down and cry.

Got to be careful parsing this comic, I see. Not all the important information is in the page, or even the initial artist's comments; there's gems scattered throughout the comments section.

I KNOW! There's so much information in my head about this world, but I can't just dump it all in the comic.
So I show it slowly, when it's necessary.

So cool that you're reading all of this.
I'm freakin' thrilled. Thanks so much!

Totally! I tried reading it start to finish before but kept getting confused. I also learned not to trust CF's "load my place" feature. Whatta crock. I've finally got some spare time on my hands lately, so I gave it a thorough parsing. What I've found is that I need more.

Heh, portals.
I admit I am not the biggest fan of portals because I find them too convenient in fiction.
Need to go somewhere? Portal! So much that can be missed. Hm.

Yeah. I know what you mean.
I have thought these through though and there are many rules and specifics about their travel and how it works.

Also, EVERYONE else has space ships. ;-)

Yep! Space ships are fine :D
High speed traveling is still limited by speed so it still takes time during long distances and stuff can happen :D
At 300k km/s it has to really far though...
